Turkey’smainconcern,hesaid,istopromoteunityacrosstheIslamicworld“nottosowseditionbetweenMuslimcountriesasothershavedone.”

Ghandour,forhispart,reiteratedhiscountry’skeennesstomaintainsecurityintheRedSea,stressingSudan’sreadinesstocooperatewithdifferentstatesoftheregioninthisregard.

HewentontopointoutthatTurkeyandSudanhadsignedanagreementonDec.25pertainingtoRedSeasecurity,which,heasserted,couldpavethewayforstepped-upmilitarycooperationwithAnkara.

“FurthermilitaryarrangementswithTurkeyarehighlylikely,”hesaid.“WehavejustsignedamilitaryagreementthatcouldleadtogreatermilitarycooperationwithTurkeyinregardstotheRedSea.”

GhandouralsorevealedthatSudanhadtemporarilyleasedSudan’sSuakinIslandtoTurkishinvestors.
